Fraunhofer / Recyclable packaging optimized by Shelf Life Simulation


Each product has specific requirements for the optimal packaging. This is especially true for sensitive products such as food.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV develops packaging materials that are able to optimally protect even fresh products. With a shelf life simulation, the scientists of the Fraunhofer IVV can predict the shelf life of a packaged product and adapt it to the respective requirements right from the development stage.

In view of the new Packaging Act, which comes into force in 2019, the Fraunhofer IVV is developing recyclable materials that can also be tested and manufactured as sample packaging on the institute’s own facilities.
