Spain will launch a Cyberattack Security Operations Center (COS) in 2018

Spain will launch in 2018 a Security Operations Center (COS) to strengthen the protection of computer networks of the General State Administration against cyber attacks. This is what Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría has said in the 11th Cybersecurity Conference of the National Cryptological Center (CCN) in Madrid.

Spain is in the number 20 of 193 countries of a cybersecurity protection index.

“Nobody is safe,” comments Soraya Sáenzde Santamaría. “This year will end with more than 26,000 computer incidents, 25% more than last year, according to the CCN.”

“Attacked websites, incursions asking for ransom [for the kidnapping of information], false information that can put in check the stability of governments and economies of many countries and suspicions of interference in democratic elections”.

Luis Jiménez, head of the CCN commented “the new operations center will act as a controller of cyberspace”.

The new Center will be operational 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
